Satellite Radio Plans

There are primarily two different satellite radio service providers in the United States. Yet, what type of satellite radio plans do they offer?  In other words, how does one subscribe and what are the costs of the different satellite radio plans?  Let’s take a look at the different satellite radio plans below.

The two companies that provide satellite radio plans in the United States are Sirius and XM.  Both companies offer unique channel diversity and one must review the various channels they offer to determine which satellite radio plan provider is appropriate for them.  Interestingly however, the satellite radio plans between the companies are structured similarly and differ very little.

First, when signing up for satellite radio plans you will find that you can subscribe on a month-to-month basis.  If you sign up for the month-to-month service, you will be billed on a monthly basis and you will be required to pay for your satellite radio plan a month in advance.  Nevertheless, a month-to-month subscription is the most costly of all of the satellite radio plans because, the less time you subscribe for, the more you pay in.

Next, in terms of satellite radio plans, subscribers can opt to pay for an annual subscription.  The annual subscription is particularly nice, because you pay for the year of satellite radio service in advance. Thus, you will only be billed when it comes time to renew your service.  Therefore, one can subscribe to satellite radio plans for one year and then not worry about the billing for at least 11 months.

The annual plan is also offered in increments.  In other words, both Sirius and XM offer satellite radio plans that you can subscribe to that are one year, two year, three year, four year, and five year satellite radio plans.  Of course, the longer the duration of the satellite radio plans, the more money you pay in the immediate future.  Conversely, the longer the duration of the satellite radio plans, the less money you pay in the long term.

Finally, a subscriber may want to eliminate dealing with satellite radio plans altogether by signing up for a lifetime of satellite radio service.  For one fee, users can get satellite radio plans for the rest of their life, without having to deal with additional billing issues.  If you have the funding, this plan is particularly nice, yet remember that you will have to pay immediately.  Thus, once again you will be paying more at the immediate moment, but less in the future.

If you don’t plan to use your satellite radio service a lot, then the least efficient among the plans would be the lifetime plan.  In fact, if you sign up for the lifetime plan and decide that you don’t enjoy the satellite radio service, you may incur a fee for cancellation.  Thus, unless you plan to use your satellite radio service a lot and you absolutely love your satellite radio service, a lifetime plan may not be the best satellite radio plan for you.
